Yoga which means union in Sanskrit is a school of ancient
spiritual practices.Yoga originated in India. There are four
has become associated with the postures of Hatha Yoga, which
are popularly considered as fitness exercises.

There are a number of different advantages that one can gain
from yoga, and yoga is able to come to our assistance in many
different ways. For one, it is an activity which works slowly
and gradually, and yet which in the end produces remarkable
results. Basically the act of yoga involves many different
components, including a code of ethics, regulations,
disciplines, and this is all combined with that of prayer and
meditation.

In regards to what yoga actually is, it is a family of ancient spiritual practices, and it is considered as being a means to
enlightenment, and has in fact also been credited for
influencing many other religions and spiritual practices
throughout the world.

[nms:yoga,4]

Modern yoga practice often includes traditional elements
inherent in eastern religion, such as moral and ethical
principles, postures designed to keep the body fit, spiritual
philosophy, instruction by a guru, chanting of sacred
syllables, pranayama (breathing exercises), and stilling the
mind through meditation. These elements are sometimes adapted
to meet the needs of non-Hindu practitioners, who may be
attracted to yoga by its utility as a relaxation technique or
as a way to keep fit.

Yoga Intentions

In Hinduism, Yoga is considered to be the ultimate way of
attaining Enlightenment – to help them achieve union with God.
The ultimate goal of yoga is the attainment of liberation from
worldly suffering and the cycle of birth and death. For the
average person still far from enlightenment, yoga can be a way
of increasing one's spiritual awareness, or cultivating
compassion and insight.

What are the Advantages of Yoga?

Yoga brings many benefits and advantages to those who
participate in its activities, and this includes such things as
the restoration of balance, flexibility, poise, health, as well
as well-being to the body, and it also brings a better sense of
self to anyone and everyone who practices it.

As well, yoga can be used to stimulate the glands, organs,
muscles, and nerves, and this is in ways that other forms of
exercise cannot; as well, muscle tightness and strain can be
quickly relieved or even rid of entirely with yoga, and both
circulation and digestion can be improved as well. Even many
stress-related symptoms, such as fatigue, poor sleeping habits,
muscle spasms, anxiety, and indigestion can be improved, and
example.
